Choripan in Las Canitas | The Lost Asian

No Name Food Stall

Around the corner of Libertador and Olleros, towards the Tennis Club/Mitre Station, in Las Cañitas

There are choripans, parillas, fast-service food stalls scattered all around the city, though none drew my attention as much as this one did; so much that I willingly stood in line eagerly waiting for my turn.

Restaurant Critic: What restaurant? The pictures speak for itself: clean and bubbly service.

Food Critic: The best 7 pesos ($1.75) I’ve spent. The choripan (chorizo within some sort of crusted bun) is incomparably better then the famous Japadog in Vancouver, or my now ex-favorite Costco hotdog in the States. The bread is crusty on the outside and chewy-soft on the inside. The chorizo itself is nicely grilled and uber juicy. What is impressive are the condiments sitting on the counter: pickled chilis, chimichurri, coleslaw, spicy chimichurri, mustard, mayo, ketchup, and so on. One of my top list for delicious cheap street food.

Pros

  • clean environment
  • fast and friendly service
  • super cheap
  • delicious choripan
  • condiments
  • love the crusty chewy bread

Cons

  • local workers at the line staring at The Lost Asian clicking away…

Damn, I lived in Canitas for a long and I have no idea of this chori until now. Always went to the mainstream and excellent Puestito del Tio.

My mom lives a few blocks away… I go by all the time, but never did get the courage to grab a bite, but love the choripan fragrances that emanate!

there is also a great lomito cart in the Bosques de Palermo.
