Bio | Organic Veggie Cafe | Palermo

Want something freshly made, and light on the stomach? This is one of my favorite lunch places that feeds me bountiful options of salads, good soup portions and other local dishes made vegetarian- milanesa, hamburguesa and pizzas.

Restaurant Critic: Bio doesn’t seem much of  a restaurant place, but more of a veggie bistro/cafe, decorated in green and with large window to people watch. The wood and bamboo elements of the place plays off the organic concept.

Food Critic: The menu ranges from raw selections to salads and local dishes, a great diversity in comparison to the strict raw food dining in Kensho. The food is easy going, freshly made, bountiful and well-flavored. I absolutely love the lemongrass infused lentil curry; a bowl of that and a piece of their delicious homemade bread still have me drooling as I’m writing this. Soup, salad, and 2 coffees come down a bit less than 100 pesos ($25).

  • bread basket: one of the best complimentary breads
  • lentil curry soup
  • salads: especially love the life salad with cheese made from sesame seeds
  • a bit expensive

I went here for a quick dinner last friday night and their bread was OK- a bit on the heavy side. Their risotto was absolutely awesome and comforting though! You should try that next time.

Also, from what I heard, this is the first organic food restaurant in palermo.. :)

Ha! I passed by this place on the way to La Dorita. It looks super cool but I think I need to brush up on my Spanish before I even go in there! I am definitely needing some organic stuff. Going through fruit and vegetable withdrawals right now. :-)
